Regulations Regarding the
Procedures for Determining the Monthly Salary and Social
Additional Payments for a Soldier and Their Amount
Issued pursuant to
Section 9, Paragraph one and Section 15,
Paragraph one of the Law on Remuneration of Officials
and Employees of State and Local Government Authorities
and Section 6 of the law On Participation
of the National Armed Forces of Latvia in
International Operations
1. This Regulation prescribes the procedures for determining
the monthly salary and special additional payments for a
professional service soldier, including professional sportsman
(hereinafter - the soldier) and their amount.
2. Implementation of this Regulation shall be financed from
the State budget resources assigned to the Ministry of
Defence.
3. The soldier shall receive monthly salary in accordance with
Annex 1 to this Regulation.
4. During the time period when the soldier is participating in
an international operation, he or she shall receive additional
payments in accordance with Annex 2 to this Regulation.
5. The soldier shall receive special additional payments in
accordance with Annex 3 to this Regulation.
6. Cabinet Regulation No. 1440 of 10 December 2013,
Regulations Regarding the Procedures for Determining the Monthly
Salary and Social Additional Payments for a Soldier and Their
Amount (Latvijas Vēstnesis, 2013, No. 250), is
repealed.
7. Cabinet Regulation No. 213 of 25 May 2011, On Determination
of the Coefficient for Calculation of the Additional Payment for
Soldiers who Participate in International Peacekeeping Operations
(Latvijas Vēstnesis, 2011, No. 82), is repealed.

3. When determining the monthly salary rate for category I the
service rank and terms of service of the soldier shall be
considered.
4. When determining the monthly salary rate for category II
the service rank and terms of service of the soldier, as well as
the condition that this person has completed the military
education course provided for the service rank in the Military
Service Law shall be considered.

Additional Payments for the
Soldier who Participates in an International Operation
[2 June
2015]
1. The soldier, upon participating in an international
operation, shall receive an additional payment in the amount of
EUR 1423 in addition to the monthly salary. The soldier shall
receive the additional payment in proportion to the time period,
in which he or she participates in the international
operation.
2. Depending on the nature of the international operation and
security conditions in the region where it is taking place, the
additional payment referred to in Paragraph 1 of this Annex is
multiplied by the following coefficient:

3. The Minister for Defence, on the basis of the
recommendation of the Commander of the National Armed Forces and
military evaluation of the hazard and nature of threat of the
respective international operation, shall approve the coefficient
for the calculation of the additional payment for participation
in the international operations referred to in Sub-paragraphs
2.1, 2.2, and 2.3 of this Regulation within the scope of the
specified range in each individual case.
4. The soldier shall:
4.1. receive an additional payment in the amount of EUR 285
per month for the neutralisation of unexploded ammunition;
4.2. receive an additional payment of EUR 8.60 per hour, but
in the amount of no more than EUR 285 euros per month, for the
fulfilment of the official duties of an aircraft crew member on
an aircraft;
4.3. receive an additional payment in the amount of EUR 285
per month for the performance of special operations.
5. During the time period when the soldier receives the
additional payments specified in this Annex, the soldier is not
paid other additional payments referred to in this
Regulation.

abroad shall not receive the benefit referred to in Sub-paragraph
2.1 of this Annex.
