The Saeima¹ has adopted and
the President has proclaimed the following law:

On the Council of Europe Convention on Access to Official Documents

Section 1. This Law adopts and approves the Council of Europe Convention of 18 June 2009 on Access to Official Documents (hereinafter - the Convention).

Section 2. The fulfilment of the commitments provided for in the Convention shall be coordinated by the Ministry of Justice.

Section 3. The Convention shall come into force at the time and in accordance with the procedures laid down in Article 16 thereof, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs shall notify thereof in the official gazette Latvijas Vēstnesis.

Section 4. Together with this Law, the Convention in the English language shall be proclaimed and the translation thereof in the Latvian language shall be published.

The Law has been adopted by the Saeima on 24 October 2024.
