AGREEMENT
on Amendments to the Agreement on Co-operation in the Field of
Education and Science between the Government of the Republic of
Latvia and the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt done on 1
March 2009
The Government of the Republic of Latvia and the Government of
the Arab Republic of Egypt, hereinafter referred to as the
Parties,
considering the growing cooperation between the two countries
in the field of higher education and science,
wishing to provide support for the development of contacts and
the exchange of students and researchers between higher education
institutions of the Parties,
considering the Agreement on Co-operation in the Field of
Education and Science between the Government of the Republic of
Latvia and the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt done on 1
March 2009, hereinafter referred to as the Agreement,
recognizing the need to amend the Agreement,
have agreed as follows.
Article 1
Add a new Article 51 to the Agreement as
follows:
"Article 51
The Parties may offer each other scholarships to students,
academic staff and researchers for bachelor, master and doctoral
studies and research at the higher education institutions and for
participation in international summer schools."
Article 2
Add a new Article 121 to the Agreement as
follows:
"Article 121
All activities carried out in the framework of this Agreement
are subject to available financial resources of the Parties and
shall be undertaken in accordance with their national laws and
regulations and international obligations. This Agreement shall
not affect any rights and obligations of the Parties under any
other international treaties to which they are parties."
Article 3
Notwithstanding anything said in the Article 13 of the
Agreement, this Agreement shall enter into force on the date of
its signature by the two Parties.
Done in duplicate in Cairo on 12 June 2022 in Latvian, Arabic
and English languages, all texts being equally authentic. In the
case of divergence of interpretation of this Agreement, the
English text shall prevail.
