Annex to the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Latvia and the Government of the Kingdom of Sweden concerning the Protection of Classified Information

With this Annex, the Government of the Republic of Latvia and the Government of the Kingdom of Sweden agree to amend Article 2, of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Latvia and the Government of the Kingdom of Sweden concerning the Protection of Classified Information, as follows:

"Article 2

Security Classifications

1. Classified Information exchanged under this Agreement shall be marked by security classification markings as appropriate under national laws and regulations. Received Classified Information shall be granted equivalent security classification level, according to the provisions of Paragraph 4.

2. The obligation referred to in Paragraph 1 shall also apply to Classified Information generated as a result of mutual cooperation between the Parties or individual or legal entities under their jurisdiction.

3. The Originating Party shall, without delay, notify the Recipient Party about changes to the security classification of Classified Information exchanged.

4. The Parties agree that the following security classification levels are equivalent:

5. Information from the Kingdom of Sweden bearing the sole marking of "HEMLIG" shall be treated as "SLEPENI" in the Republic of Latvia unless otherwise requested in writing by the Originating Party.

6. Information from the Republic of Latvia bearing the marking of "KONFIDENCIĀLI" or "DIENESTA VAJADZĪBĀM" shall be treated as "HEMLIG" by civil entities in the Kingdom of Sweden unless otherwise requested in writing by the Originating Party."

This Annex replaces the original text of Article 2, and will enter into force upon signature of the Government of the Republic of Latvia and the Government of the Kingdom of Sweden.

Done in Stockholm on 08.10.2010. in duplicate in the Latvian, Swedish and English language, all three texts equally authentic. In case of different interpretation of this Annex the English text will prevail.
