Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Latvia and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on Exemption of Visa Requirements for Holders of Diplomatic Passports

The Government of the Republic of Latvia and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (hereinafter referred to as the "Parties"),

Desiring to strengthen the amity links between both States,

Have agreed as follows:

Article 1

1. Holders of valid diplomatic passports issued by the Republic of Latvia are allowed multiple entries into the territory of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and may stay in said state for a term not to exceed ninety (90) days in any 180-day period without obtaining visa. Provided that such stay shall not be used for the purpose of engaging in employment, gainful, or otherwise, study or paid activities.

2. Holders of valid diplomatic passports issued by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan are allowed multiple entries into the territory of the Republic of Latvia and may stay in said state for a term not to exceed ninety (90) days in any 180-day period without obtaining visa. Provided that such stay shall not be used for the purpose of engaging in employment, gainful, or otherwise, study or paid activities.

Article 2

1. Holders of valid diplomatic passports of the State of either Party assigned to a diplomatic or consular mission may enter, stay in the territory of the State of the other Party and leave it without a visa during the term of their assignment.

2. Same rules shall apply to the spouses and children of the mentioned officers, provided they hold valid diplomatic passports.

Article 3

The visa exemption established under this Agreement shall not release the holders of valid diplomatic passports of the State of either Party from the obligation to respect the laws and regulations in force in the territory of the State of the other Party.

Article 4

Each Party reserves the right to deny entry or to terminate the stay of holder of valid diplomatic passport in the territory of the Republic of Latvia or the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan if the person is deemed undesirable.

Article 5

1. The Parties shall exchange through diplomatic channels specimens of the diplomatic passports within thirty (30) days after the date of signing of this Agreement.

2. If either Party introduces a new modification of the diplomatic passports after the entry into force of this Agreement, it shall send to the other Party a specimen of this modification through diplomatic channels at least thirty (30) days in advance of its introduction.

Article 6

1. Each Party may suspend, either in whole or in part, the implementation of this Agreement by reasons of public order, security or protection of public health.

2. The suspension shall take effect thirty (30) days after the notification thereof has been sent to the other Party through diplomatic channels.

Article 7

Any disputes arising from the interpretation and application of this Agreement, shall be settled amicably by negotiations and consultations through diplomatic channels.

Article 8

This Agreement may be amended upon mutual written agreement between the Parties. Such amendments shall enter into force in accordance with paragraph 1 of Article 9 and shall form an integral part of this Agreement.

Article 9

1. This Agreement is concluded for an indefinite period of time and shall enter into force on the thirtieth day after the receipt of the last written notification through diplomatic channels by which the Parties notify each other that the internal legal procedures necessary for its entry into force have been fulfilled.

2. Each Party may terminate this Agreement by giving a written notification through diplomatic channels to other Party. In such case, the termination shall take effect ninety (90) days after the date of receipt of such notification.

Done at Riga on the fifteenth day of May, two thousand and twenty-six, in duplicate, in the Latvian, Arabic and English languages, all texts being equally authentic. In case of divergence in interpretation, the English text shall prevail.
