Hygiene Requirements for Primary Production of Feed and Direct Supplies in Small QuantitiesIssued pursuant
to 1. The Regulation prescribes hygiene requirements for primary production of feed and direct supplies in small quantities. 2. The Regulation shall apply to the feed business operators which supply primarily produced feed directly to the farms in the territory of Latvia for use therein in the amount not exceeding 10 tons per year (hereinafter - the primary producer of feed). 3. The conformity with this Regulation shall be supervised and controlled by the Food and Veterinary Service. 4. The primary producer of feed shall: 4.1. ensure that the primarily produced feed which is produced, prepared, cleaned, packaged, stored, and transported is protected against spoilage and contamination with prohibited and undesirable substances, and also with contamination of feed caused by animals and pests; 4.2. keep equipment for the production of feed, containers and boxes clean; 4.3. ensure the purity of feed during harvesting, storage, sorting, packaging, and transportation; 4.4. ensure that packaging materials of feed are not a source of contamination of feed; 4.5. keep the results of the analysis at least for a year if analysis for the determination of safety of feed has been carried out on the samples of primarily produced feed; 4.6. record information on the farm that has received direct deliveries of feed, indicating the type of feed and the amount delivered, and shall keep such information at least for a year if the laws and regulations governing the storage of documents do not specify a longer term.
